Gifts For Graduates: Prepaid Credit Cards

For Graduates: Credit

As the month of May approaches, high school and college seniors are preparing to graduate and move on to the next phase in their life. This is the time when they will be showered with gifts from family and friends. These gifts are typically things that are considered useful for them. While those will be appreciated, many graduates often receive duplicates of gifts or don’t remember who gave them what. This year, make your stand out and give your favorite graduates something they will truly appreciate.

Usually, everyone has the same idea, they are going to give graduates the things they really need like towels, luggage, or kitchen tools. The problem is that so many people have this same thought; it results with one person getting duplicates of the same gifts.

Getting more creative with gifts can be difficult, and most people usually turn to gift cards as an easy solution. When you don’t know exactly what a graduate needs, a gift card is always a good way to allow them to choose something for themselves. While this is a great idea, it usually limits them to one particular store where the gift card is from.

As an alternative to this, prepaid credit cards don’t restrict where the money can be spent. This is definitely a more personal gift, but coming from a family member, it would be perfect. Not only is this a great way to give a gift that allows your graduate the freedom to spend, it’s also a great way to teach them budgeting. Additionally, this gift can be reused over and over as the graduate or family member can continually load money onto the card, which can be helpful especially after the student goes off to college.

Receiving a gift card is always nice; giving the recipient the freedom to choose what they actually want is the general idea. However, with prepaid credit cards, they can use it for anything they need on an ongoing basis. This year, give graduates a gift they can appreciate, one that they can use in any way they see fit.
